Rocaillou is a new durum wheat variety that has achieved above-standard yields across all regions of France. Large grains and excellent quality add extra value to this variety. It offers a wide sowing window, allowing for planting even outside the optimal period, right up to mid-November. Durum wheat is characterized by lower tillering capacity; therefore, we recommend carefully checking your seed drill settings before sowing to ensure the target plant population is achieved. Rocaillou is a short-stature variety with excellent lodging resistance. It shows excellent tolerance to foliar diseases such as powdery mildew and rust, though we recommend at least two fungicide treatments to maintain grain health. Its yield potential ranges from 7–8 t/ha, reaching up to 9 t/ha in exceptional years under optimal conditions.

💡Good to know: The best previous cros for durum wheat are soybeans, peas, alfalfa, oilseed rape and potatoes. Moderately preferred previous crops are sunflower and sugar beet. Maize should be avoided, as well as monoculture or narrow crop rotation with wheat. The nutritions needs are the same as for winter wheat. In order to preserve quality, it is recommended to harvest before possible precipitation.
