Leandra - new alternative malting barley

Leandra is new malting barley of German origin. Thanks to its excellent malt quality and excellent yield, the Leandra variety has found its place both in the field and in the malting industry. During testing, in our comparative trial in Nova Gradiška, from the winter sowing Leandra achieved a yield of 9,960 kg/ha last year with excellent quality parameters (protein 10.35 hectoliters 63.4 kg/hl, first-class grain content 96.7%). Leandra is alternative variety, which means that it has a wide range of sowing options from the end of October to mid-March, but the best yield results are obtained when sown in the winter. The yield potential is 9.5-10.5 t/ha.

✔ Contains the RRS2 gene and has a high tolerance to gray spot (Rhynchosporium secalis)
Agro-technological characteristics:
Resistance to lodging: tolerant
Sowing rate: 350 - 380 germinated grains/ m²
Optimal sowing time:
- in the autumn period - the last decade of October and the first decade of November;
- in the spring period - from February 1 to March 15
Malting characteristics:
Excellent calibration - high proportion of 1st class grains
Low protein content
