Protein pea has been gaining more and more importance in recent years. It is an excellent source of protein in animal feed, but it is increasingly becoming a source of protein for human consumption. It fits perfectly into the crop rotation, especially as a pre-crop for cereals, because of the nitrogen it leaves in the soil.
Sowing of winter peas can last until the middle or end of October, which leaves enough time for the plant to go into winter. Resistance to low temperatures is excellent.
New varieties of peas that have afila type leaves are much easier to harvest without losses in the harvest; there is no lodging, and the yield is better.
Winter peas have about a 7-10 day head start in vegetation compared to winter barley. In this way, it forms pods early enough and fills the grain, which is later insensitive to high temperatures. Therefore, the pea yield that can be expected is around 5 t/ha.
Our offer includes Foudre winter peas and alternative variety Batist.

Batist is a new protein pea variety with a protein content of 21–23%. It is a medium-early to early variety that is highly adaptable to various weather conditions. Thanks to its excellent tolerance to low temperatures, Batist is suitable for both autumn and spring sowing. For spring sowing, we recommend planting as early as weather and soil conditions allow. Sowing as early as the beginning of February is recommended to achieve high yields; this allows the plants to form pods and fill their grains earlier, thereby avoiding the high temperatures that can occur as early as May and June.
✔Maturity: medium-early to early
✔Harvest time: June
✔Yield potential: over 5 t/ha
✔Large grain
✔Plant height at harvest: medium
✔Optimal sowing time: • Autumn: October • Spring: February
✔Seeding rate: 220–250 kg/ha (or 80 viable seeds/m²)
